Might anyone be able to provide some insight into this photo of my great-granduncle (B: 1910, D: 1946)? I know he is wearing a Czechoslovak Army uniform, but I know nothing beyond that. Was conscription a policy at the time? Does the photo show his rank in the army? Any input would be appreciated.

Rank would be private. My guess is, he was in the cavalry, probably a dragoon considering from the little triangle which appears to be yellow and was assigned to cavalry units. Guy on the pic is a cavalry soldier in the rank of “Četař” equivalent to a sergeant.
Rather difficult to tell, since its B&W photo and this stuff was kinda about different colors on the lapels…
That being said, this is very likely a private serving in the cavalry, between 1930-1938.
