Rishi Sunak calls for change to rules that stopped Rwanda deportation flight in meeting with European court chief

  1. Funnily enough he is not yet a dictator above the rule of law, no matter how much he wants to be. Or how much Suella Braverman wants to be an absolute dictator, which is probably rather more relevant than what Rish! thinks.

  2. Really? Fucking really???

Not, “oh shit, this is a violation of rights as agreed with the European Courts, maybe we need to rethink”, but “The nasty ECHR says this is illegal, based on definitions and legal terms co-penned and agreed by us, they should make it legal!”

The worst thing is, I wish I was even remotely surprised by this shit any more.

If (hopefully when) the rest of Europe tells him to get fucked, how long – in minutes – do you think it’ll be before legislation is introduced to leave the jurisdiction of the ECHR?

And the usual hate rags will happily take up the cry, ignoring the fact that ‘illegal’ immigration by small boats is a small fraction of net migration, never mind gross migration into the UK.

If they want to tighten restrictions on who can come into the country, fine, that’s their right, but to blame all the ills on ‘illegals’ while having essentially an open door policy for people coming in who aren’t seeking asylum is fucking horrific.

  3. Oh look – a “sensible” Tory trying to shore up his right flank! That’s always gone so well in the past. You can’t negotiate with the Fash.

  4. It’s really kind of funny that schoolboy Sunak thinks any other world leader would take him seriously. Like, they all know he has no mandate whatsoever from the British people and his days are numbered. I’m sure they all nodded and smiled and sent him on his way.

  5. “Hi, you appeared to have stopped us doing this clearly reprehensible thing.

Have you considered… Just letting us do it?”
