If weed does become legal in Ireland they should be careful with the THC and CBD content. I used to live in California and what people did there got rid of any good effects of the weed. Incredibly high in thc but with either no or close to none CBD. I think most places should legalize it but should regulate the amount of THC.
Interesting, I hadn’t thought of that side of it before. I wonder if the same is true for people with ADHD?
This guy ain’t autistic. I don’t think.
I remember it having the opposite effect on me. I would become withdrawn and socially anxious.
Oh god, here we go. Weed is just another fad that people have latched on to. It’s dangerous to slavishly adore anything, particularly when it’s side effects are ignored in order to promote it
Autistic adult with a cannabis prescription in the North here. Although I’m prescribed for pain, cannabis has been hugely beneficial to me for issues that stem from being autistic. I can agree with this guy about it relaxing us in social situation where we would otherwise be overestimated and tense.
It also does so much more; It helps with appetite/recognising hunger and executive function. It helps quiet my mind so I can prioritise tasks. It helps with sensory issues, and it pretty much stops anxiety attacks in their tracks.
Cannabis has literally saved my life on more than one occasion when I was having TOLNWL.
I really hope the law changes in the south so that people can access this medicine, it’s life changing and life saving.
The whole weed debate opens so many questions.
Take this guy: is the idea that he would take weed every day to maintain function? Will he require higher doses if his body develops tolerance to it? Is it going to be covered on a medical card?
What about work? Can an employer decide not to employ a worker because they use medical weed, or choose to let someone go because they do? Can someone who is taking medical cannabis have a drivers licence? What about consenting for medical treatment or signing legal documents?
I’m personally not in favour of legalization but if the medical evidence clearly supports it then fine. But I would like to know where we stand with these kinds of things first.
Probably sounds stupid but I’d like to try weed for this purpose to see what affect, if any, it would have on me.
But, I don’t smoke and I don’t want to take it up! Is it possible to get gummies etc anywhere in Ireland without being hauled before the courts like you’re Pablo Escobar.
Fantastic
Operation sit in the house all day, and smoke weed is coming along nicely.
Cool
Weed is medicine & it helps me focus and get stuff done. I’ve Adhd & autism

I really believe that medicinal cannabis should be prescribed for those who would benefit from it in Ireland.
However, any experience I’ve had with people who are very pro-medicinal cannabis has been so aggressive. For context, I have ticks and a tremor and I understand that it works for a lot of people who have similar symptoms but it makes my ticks much worse. When I tell those people, they just tell me I’m wrong or I need to try it again and get quite conspiracy theory level of quoting science they don’t understand.
Of course this is just my experience and probably having a visible condition attracts these nutbags but it’s so refreshing to see this guy talking coherently and passionately about it. We need more young people like this.
Didn’t work like that for me at all but each to their own

r/AutismIreland 👈👍
Weed does help with anxiety, but it has to be the right strength, etc. Not *all* weed helps with anxiety.
Sadly, when it’s prohibited as it is in Ireland, it’s almost impossible to get the right strain, strength, etc. Even where it’s legal it could take you a while to find the right blend.
People intuitively understand the difference between beer and whiskey. A glass of beer can relax you. A glass of whiskey can turn you into a mess. People can’t seem to grasp that weed is the same. You need the right *kind* of weed. Goodluck doing that when your dealer doesn’t even know what it is he’s giving you.
I am autistic too and it helps me immensely. I used to have severe mental health problems and was on a ton of psych meds. When I started smoking weed I took myself off all the other meds gradually and was stable for the first time in my adult life.
I already have a caution for getting caught with some and if I get caught again, then I will have a criminal record. This would put an end to me working in healthcare and most other fields.
It really sucks. My partner is from the Netherlands and it’s so easy over there. It is a big reason why I want to live there in the future.
Yeah 2 drags on a joint and I’m blazed. Thinking about all the worst shit that could possibly happen in my life.
He seemed pretty relaxed in the video, so good for him if it works.
Gave me a psychotic break and now I’ve serious anxiety and depersonalisation 🫠
Alcohol has the same effect for me.
I’m definitely neurodivergent/on the spectrum and weed helps me be a normal chill person. My whole life before weed I was an outsider and was always picked on for being weird and not fitting in. But when I smoke weed it’s like it slows my thoughts down and makes everything simpler.
The best way I can describe it would be when I don’t smoke, my thoughts are very scattered and I have like 100 different things going through my mind at the same time but none of them are being focused on, I used to zone out alot and get lost in my own thoughts and wouldn’t notice when people talked to me. When I smoke I only have one focused thought at a time and I don’t feel like I’m being over run by daily things.
Cocaine does the same, i know people that will talk for hours on the stuff, its 90% gibberish but they talk nevertheless
It will never be legalised here.
ADHD / ASD here I’ve a lived experience of self medicating with cannabis since I was 19 . For the past 3 decades since 1993 it has and continues to be the only medicine that has worked. The fact that some days I nearly starve in order to medicate is taking its toll. I smoke. I.5 g a day aim for gram. So I’m barely medicating with it. You can be legally prescribed a prescription in NI and be prescribed upto 90 grams a month for ADHD to get neurodivergent conditions added to the MCAP my life would change for the bettering fact the difference would be nite and day to current situation on the BM. If it doesn’t change I will have no choice but to try the move to Spain. To see that young man speak so openly about his autism and cannabis was a brearh of fresh air.
