I’m from a cross border village which has been flooded by lux citizens in the last 5 years.
What do you think happend to our housing expenses over here?
Exactly.
With a german salary no chance to stay in the area. Fucking disgrace.
“opt for” = “have no other chance”
Nothing new here, it’s an issue for German families (with German salary) who have in turn move to further out villages.
Some of my parents friends here sold their house in Lux, bought one for half of the price in Germany and are living very well from the difference now.
I see the same happening around Arlon. Saw an ad to rent a house for €1400. 2 years ago you could get it for around €1000. It’s looking like Luxembourg 10 years ago with the prices and it seems to only go in one direction.
I’m in the market to buy a house in Germany. I also got hit with the question, that Luxembourgers drive up the prices in the border region. I understand that we increase the demand and drive the price up, but when I see how German sellers ask unrealistic high prices, cause they think that a Luxembourger will buy it, I blame German people as well for high prices as I blame the ones here in Luxembourg asking Hugh prices due to the demand being so high and supply so low.
I know its a maybe stupid take, but I hate this conversation, that buyers are getting all the hate.
Rent in Perl has almost doubled during last 5 years. Domino effect.
Name me a few terms for: when you are forced to move out of your country
God, I’m French and it would take the Luxembourg rents to go WAY higher than that for me to move back to France…
Actually… I wouldn’t drive in that nightmare even for a free house.
How can someone single afford renting a small apartment when agencies ask for at least 1/3 ney salary?

Genius logic.
