  1. congratulations, it took you only 9 months 2 weeks and 6 days. At this pace you’ll reach Kyiv about year 2137.

  2. Took longer than Stalingrad, and provides to tangible benefit. Congratulations.

Initially I was skeptical if holding out in Bakhmut would be worth the cost for ukranians, but Russia made it abundantly clear: as soon as they encounter significant resistance, they will reduce the area to dust. Might as well hold them there then, you cant just keep retreating with insanity like that following you.

  3. Let’s remember that Bakhmut had a population of 71.000 before the full-scale invasion. That’s what they captured after a year of bloody battles. What they threatened was Kiev in 3 days.

  4. What a great victory! Like 10 months and tens of thousands killed or wounded for a random city no one had ever heard of prior. Let’s see now the twice as deadly battle of kramatorsk…

  5. Congratulations putin. You’ve (allegedly) won a shitty little town with absolutely no strategic value and it only took you… how many months?

Even if they did capture it, what was the point? And how can such a miniscule feat take the oh so mighty ruZZian military so damn long? Pathetic petro state playing super power with little backwater towns

  6. They are losing the territory all around the outskirts of bhakmut. This is one of the most premature victory declarations they have made since the start of the war

  7. That’s how WW2 in Europe ended. Hitler claimed victory, thanked the troops and put a bullet in his own head… maybe Putin can learn from him.

  8. They haven’t captured shit. Bakhmut still stands against Russia they are just tucking tail and running salting the earth behind them. But they have won nothing.

  9. So what is next?

A “strategic” withdrawel from Ukrainian territory now they have shown the ground and buildings of Bakhmut who is the boss.

  10. Don’t forget to stick a Russian flag somewhere onto a ruin in the city and take photos quickly cause there won’t be anything left of your troops to testify about your “victory”

  11. Just seen a news report where Zelenskiy has said Bakhmut hasn’t fallen. So, maybe a premature claim?
Let’s see what the next few days brings.

  12. Guys I’m having a hard time following the narrative here. If Bakhmut was such an irrelevant town why did Ukraine defend it that hard? Specially taking into account that Ukraine suffered heavier casualties than russia did? I mean the russian army isn’t even fighting it is a group of convict contractors… Idk seems like this is an L for us this time.

  13. Putin: *Mission Accomplished* 😀

*Meanwhile the city of Advinka literally in the “border” with one of the separatist regions since 2014 and still in Ukranian hands*

Losing between 20k to 30k in Bakmut alone and taking longer than Stalingrad (9 months compared to 5 months).

Watch out Pyrrhus of Epirus… There’s a new contestant of having it’s name to describe certain battle outcomes.

  14. I think losing this city might be the best thing for Ukraine right now. I don’t think it was strategically important honestly and I don’t think that losing it is going to make Ukraine give up on fighting.

I’m not an expert on anything but it seemed like a tactically unfortunate fixation on that place. Maybe it was useful to kill a bunch of Russians 🤷‍♀️ That is a benefit that can’t go unheralded if you’re being invaded

  15. Why are so many people believing russia has honestly, pinky swear, captured bahkmut this time

Last time they completely captured bahkmut, they snuck in middle of the night and planted a flag on some rubble.
