Bees flourishing thanks to new wildlife corridors in South Downs National Park

  1. Yesterday I saw a deer in a park, loads of squirrels, butterflies and bees! Glad to see there’s still some resemblance of wildlife out there

  2. Sounds like they are doing something useful with the South Downs. It really is the least national parky of all our national parks. Personally I think it only exists to prevent housebuilding in the South East and push up house prices.

  3. Only bees I’ve seen so far this year have been dead on the floor.. Still early so here’s to hoping!

Planted a huge patch of me garden with wildflowers and me plumb tree wall ain’t being cut back until winter so expect to see a lot happening in the coming months.

  4. That’s good. I think it shows we can “all do our bit” by having certain plants in gardens etc, but what makes a bigger difference is projects/government schemes etc.

  5. Bees are an iconic part of summer. Essential for humans that there are healthy colonies throughout the land. Pollination work by bees is so important. We’d be sunk without the humble bee. I love honey btw.

  6. It’s almost as if when people follow the advice of scientists things go well. Let’s keep adding more things from the IPCC report to the agenda. No new fossil fuel projects!

  7. I live about 10 minutes drive from the closest point of the South Downs and had a bee fly into (and back out of) my living room just this morning!

  8. Un bee related but me and partner are on our ways to looking into buying our first house, not out right lol but its a step up the ladder.

But when we do I’m going to cut hedgehog sized hole for them, to get in and out of our future garden.

Its encouraged that people do this to create corridors through gardens. So that they are just just stuck in one and can find other mating parents of the opposite sex as well.

    Its a simple solution.

  9. Had a cockchafer fly into my living room a couple of nights ago. Forgot how evil they look, but they’re harmless to humans I believe.
