  1. my only complaint about these cycle paths is the total lack of sound barriers, everytime a train goes by its deafening and ruins the pleasure

  2. Long live fietssnelwegen. Did the Antwerpen-Duffel-Antwerpen last Thursday to test out my new bike and I was surprised how good the connection was. Safe, easy to follow, cool sights and I did the 36km trip in no time.

In a region that’s the size of a postage stamp, highways like this are amazing.

  3. Here in Wallonia we also have some vibrating surface like the markings on the edge of the path in the picture, except it’s integrated into the entire bike path in the form of rough derelict concrete slabs from the 80s covered in gravel, branches and glass. We’re always one step ahead!

  4. Good initiative, only if people would keep themselves to the rules so everyone can enjoy cycling there.

  5. Shame that you still have to give way at every road crossing. When you’re between towns it’s usually long stretches without them, but passing through it’s still start-stop riding even though they call it a “cycling highway”…

You never see cars having to give way for crossing traffic on the highway…

  6. Love riding with my electric longboard on those roads! A bit of carving and sometimes riding at maximum speed (when nobody else is around).

  7. As an American considering moving to Belgium and trying to learn what is happening there…

What is this? Is it a bike path? And what’s so great about it.
