5. Waa hoping for debt forgiveness or dropping the railway line directive for privatisation or the battle groups under PESCO or support for regime change or any other really bad things.

6. Technically incorrect. We joined the EEC in 1973.

   The EU came into being with the Maastricht Treaty in 1992, and the EEC became the European Community, one of the pillars of the EU.
