Spain has produced enough renewable energy to power its entire country for a 9-hour work day

  1. Wow, so there are 365 days in a year and they have enough energy for 9 hours now?

No wonder people are protesting in the streets, we’re fucked.

  2. Brilliant, keep in mind it isn’t just the climate impact that makes renewables important either, it’s also energy independence in an increasingly hostile “de-globalising” world.

On top of that, it’s price, in the UK at least solar and wind per MWH are far cheaper over their lifecycles than the alternatives are.

Affordable, independent/protected, and protecting the environment, the only slight issues are that we probably need nuclear as a base load, until battery tech improves considerably.

We also need to make sure we don’t shut down existing output before having a replacement, and then just assuming we can import it in the interim. We saw how that goes.
