The ignorance just saddens me

  1. No. There is no “fuck it”. My grandfather became an orphan because his family was hiding Jewish family from German nazis. There was plenty of tragedies, deaths and all form of atrocities because of what those beasts did. Our ancestors were victims, survivors and heroes and we will not be blamed for this.

  2. I mean, it is a very clear distinction for me:

    * Poland as a country IS NOT co-responsible for Shoah
    * SOME of the Poles blackmailed Jews / did pogroms and they are responsible for Jews that died because of their actions.

If we say that country is responsible for Shoah, because some of its citizens blackmailed / collaborated, then I’m sorry, but WHOLE EUROPE (excluding maybe Brittish Isles) is responsible for Shoah.

  3. Can someone explain this to me? What has a isreali singer to do with the Holocaust

  4. Recently I’ve heard that my grandma, although very gentle and rather shy person, used to regularly give a shelter in the basement to Polish and other nationalities partisans during the wwii – like hell she was a brave and combative woman!

  5. I wouldn’t bother with these tweets. It’s a matter of lack of education about the matter. As I said in other post, you’ll find many people like that in Israel.
The subject is not being taught very in dept in schools. Those who know a bit more than “it happened in poland, nazis are bad, some polish cooperated with them” acquired this information themselves outside of school.
In general, people who acquire history knowledge outside of school in Israel are quite a specific group. I wouldn’t be surprised she is not in that group.

  6. Honestly the thing that annoys me the most is when people argue that there were Poles that snitched on Jews during these times. It was awful to do, these Jews were killed or sent to camps to work themselves to death, but it’s not fair to judge inhumane actions when they happened in inhumane settings. Poles were a target of nazis to, they were killed on the streets too, and for some if it was ‘just’ ratting someone out for a feeling of safety they would do it, they had nothing else to rely on during these times.

Not to mention there were Jews who got other Jews killed too. Everyone was against everyone at some point, if your death meant someone’s safety then you were gone.

I’m just tired of Jewish people mostly knowing Poland for the Holocaust and openly expressing it. When we get blamed we’re trying to ‘cover the history of Poles who did get others killed’ by defending ourselves, but at the same time you can’t mention current Germany because well, they’re better now.

I’m over exaggerating a bit on the last part, but I personally never see Germany mentioned in Holocaust discourse these days, it’s almost always Poland.

  7. Honestly she deserves to be dislike to hell and forgotten.

  8. i think shit like this is so ridiculous, my great grandfather did not fight in the polish cavalry and risk his life for the freedom of our country for this low life to make stupid ignorant comments

  9. And they wonder why no one likes them….

Yeah fair enough it happened but Jesus Christ get over it. I have German friends and I don’t remind them what they did. I’m sure they don’t remind Germans either….because they are racist towards polish people

Bam didn’t see that coming did you ?

  10. if the stuff I’m reading here is true and israel actually has those policies of essentially brainwashing citizens against Poland, then we should unrecognize israel and recognize Palestine

  11. Seems like you guys could use a pick-me-up. In the Netherlands on the 4th and 5th of May we mourn/celebrate those who gave their lives to liberate the Netherlands. Specifically the Canadian, British, American and Polish soldiers that fought and died for our freedom.

We know the role Poland played in WW2. Kids get taught this in school. And we won’t forget it.

  12. The whole argument just makes me gag because of the background of the assumptions made while discussing.

The Poles are portrayed as some kind of primitive, religious rabble placing blame for their backwardness and poverty on the Jewish influence. Then they were eager to turn on their neighbors when an external invasion happened. Now they’re sitting upon all their land and property. Does that remind you of a certain conflict in the Middle East?

Pre-war Poland was a country densely populated by Jews. It is not a shocker that antisemitism was prevalent in the pre-war society. It is not a shocker that it’s always easier to ignore the plight of your neighbour when your own existence is at stake. It is not a shocker that heroes will always be less numerous then rascals. The only thing making Poland exceptional is the fact that is was the country in Europe with largest Jewish population.

As some examples show, living alongside each other does not guarantee lack of prejudice. Especially in the face of military occupation.

  13. It wouldn’t be ok even if she said it about Germans who were actually responsible for the Holocaust. It’s Eurovision, you got 12 points girl, why are you throwing shade on people who liked you? Why do you have to bring up history and completely spoil the mood? How spiteful is that?

But the fact that she said it about Poland, as if we had anything to say about the Holocaust, as if we weren’t occupied and being genocided ourselves is just so ignorant and nasty.

  14. Polish death camps 2137th edition move along nothing to see here

  15. Respond to this harshly, but do it in the right way. Someone below called her a çûnnt. She is, but they’ll take something like that and run with it. “They called me a çûńńt! I told you that the Polish people were belligerent!”

There are non-brainwashed people in her country. Appeal to them. They will help.

  16. I’m pretty sure she meant it was a victory for her (she is happy) that a place which was once assosiated with her families death has shown such support for her on Eurovision.
Why did you all jump to the conclusion that she meant it was a victory *over* Poland?

In what context does anybody declare victory over a country for getting 12 points from them?

  17. Could you please tell my, why denying holocaust is bad, but denying extermination of Poles is all good?

  18. The French middle class: *quietly pops the Gestapo dick out of their mouth*

  19. The poor Jews keep mentioning the Holocaust, but when they realize that what they are doing to the Palestinians in the 21st century is the systematic annihilation of a nation? The world sympathizes with the Jews, Germany beats its chest and shouts that similar actions cannot be allowed, and at the same time the homes of the Palestinians are being demolished and rockets are flying at their heads.

  20. She should be disqualified for such an outrageous statement.

  21. Love it when banality infuriate people.

Let’s settle Holocaust issue at the song contest!

  22. I was surpised that Polish jury gave her 12 points, that song was pretty basic imho, even by eurovision standards.

  23. 6 million jews died during the holocaust. But you know how many Poles died? Also 6 million. Everyone always assumes jews were the primary victims but it really seems like we were too. No one remembers or knows that part

  24. TIL a lot. Had absolutely no idea that Israel was pushing this agenda. I thought that the singer confused Germany and Poland somehow.

  25. What saddens me even more, is that throughout the west and especially in the US it’s completely fine and accepted way to say: “Nazis” – as if they were some kind of aliens with no nationality and no language.

    That’s what’s really f….. uped.

  26. The title of Righteous Among the Nations has been awarded since 1963 by the Yad Vashem Institute in Jerusalem. It is awarded to persons who saved Jews during World War II. Hiding them was punishable by death only in Poland occupied by the Germans. Until today, this title – and thus: the medal, diploma and name carved on the wall in Yad Vashem – has been awarded to 26.9 thousand. people from different countries. Among them, there are 6.8 thousand. Poles

  27. How fucking stupid do you have to be

    Edit: the singer, of course

  28. Israeli here… Just to clarify we all know that it’s not your fault, she’s just dumb as hell…
