Channel 4 News end credits on Jon Snow’s last ever broadcast

  1. Maybe he did know things after all!

It seems a bit incongruous that he’s retiring but also has a 9 month old baby

  2. God, the quality of honest reporting that man did was heads and shoulders above anything the BBC has produced

  3. Such a great journalist, seems like he’s a nice chap too. Hope he writes a book or something, sounds like he’s had a really interesting life

  4. I remember watching him as a kid. It felt like I was watching grown up news for the first time. I can’t believe how little he has appeared to age since then.

  5. I always felt Jon Snow did his best to be impartial, I always had (have) a lot of respect for him as a broadcaster and journalist because of this

  6. I’ll always remember that he was one of the few broadcasters to have the guts stand-up to the poppy police.

    >“I am begged to wear an Aids ribbon, a breast cancer ribbon, a Marie Curie flower,” he wrote in a Channel 4 internet diary. “You name it, from the Red Cross to the RNIB, they send me stuff to wear to raise awareness, and I don’t.
“And in those terms, and those terms alone, I do not and will not wear a poppy.
“There is a rather unpleasant breed of poppy fascism out there — ‘he damned well must wear a poppy!’. Well I do, in my private life, but I am not going to wear it or any other symbol on air.”

  7. For… uninteresting reasons a number of years ago I had his mobile number. Made the mistake of revealing this fact at a Christmas meal with friends, one of whom got so excited that she decided to steal my phone and call him on it. I prayed he wouldn’t answer, but he did, whence I grabbed it back and hung up.

Emailed him the next day to apologise. He replied that he thought she sounded delightful and hoped she would call again.
