Umm it seems to me like it’s someone’s birthday or something
Sto lat means 100 years which is something we say on someone’s birthday in Poland.
They must really like that guy
Or I’m an idiot and this is something completely different 😂
Definitely a birthday, you know, maybe he was aggressive because it’s a private place for birthdays.
Okay, seriously, Fucked up Legia Warsaw fans
I had a wonderful, wonderful time in Warsaw with every interaction with the locals. I saw this thing just a few hours before I was scheduled to leave, so I guess I went a little off guard at the end of my trip because of how nice everyone else had been lol
Some hooligans celebrating their buddy Piotrek’s birthday in the best way they know how, by hooliganing with him in the park 🙂
It seems it’s near Łazienkowski bridge, by Agrykola. There’s Legia Stadium nearby, as well as Źródełko – a pub frequented by hardcore Legia fans/hooligans, so you probably had a run-in with them. Lighting fireworks and drinking in public is illegal in Poland, so there’s a chance, like some people have said, they might have taken you for someone who might be potentially recording them committing a crime and someone might get identified.
You’re foreigner and just started record that shit instead running away? Those are football hooligans, you could have been in trouble!
Lol, they must really like this Piotrek if they’re doing all this for him.
It’s a birthday celbration of one of Kibole. Remember, their main tradition is asking people if they have any problems or co się kurwa gapisz, zajebac ci?
Other beautiful tradition is giving away wpierdol to anyone who is passing by.
Just enjoy this beautiful, cultural experience.
These are the fans, ultras from the looks of it, of local football club Legia Warsaw. Idk what the occasion was or what was going on. Maybe you could check the date that this happened to see if there was any matches which they won. Legia won the Polish Cup a few weeks ago against Raków Częstochowa, maybe they were celebrating that. It could also be the commemoration or commissioning of the group’s street art or they were making a promotional video for the group.
Ultras is a word derived from Ultra Fanatics, which describes the most passionate, loud, and intense supporters of a sports club, mainly in football. They sing chants, jump, creates intense choreos, and use pyrotechnics such as flares, fireworks, smoke, and others. Most clubs in Poland, Europe, and the world have some form of ultras or supporters group. Ultras culture is very strong in Poland, some of the strongest in all of Europe, and personally I’m surprised you don’t seem to know what they are. Legia has some of the strongest support in all of Poland and a massive ultras scene.
As for recording an ultras group as an outsider, it is not recommended at all. Groups don’t like when people take photos or videos because if their faces are shown or other important information is listed while they are using pyrotechnics or doing other ‘banned’ actions, then they could be identified by authorities and face consequences and punishments.
For the safety of the entire group and yourself, please don’t record the groups up close or reveal details to the public. The same goes for all other ultras groups that you may encounter. Believe me, ultras groups are not people you want to piss off, especially if you’re a fan of a rival club.
EDIT: Ok so I looked it up and apparently they are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the name of their club. In 1923, 100 years ago, the club was renamed to Legia Warsaw after a merger with another local club, Korona Warsaw. Found the information here: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legia_Warsaw](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legia_Warsaw)
Just a peaceful and normal day in Poland 😂
most civil and considerate Legia fans
Somebody is summoning Satan. This practic is pretty popular in Poland.
These are one of of VERY few people in Poland that you should avoid.
They are opening the gate of oblivion.
They are celebrating finally losing the league title
Lmao its a birthday of some football fans
If it involves flares, stay away from that shit.
It’s probably the birthday of Piotr “Staruch” Staruchowicz the leader of the Legia Warsaw Hooligan group. It’s a very controversial “fan group” of the local football club. They create a great atmosphere during matches with their songs and chanting but are also known for fighting and displaying extreme far right views sometimes incorporated into their chants or “tifos” (big banners displayed during matches). The leader himself has been in and out of prison for various different reasons and is involved with some politicians on both local and national level.
The reason people got aggressive about filming it are several:
1) Staruch has a checkered past so lighting up a bunch of fireworks in the middle of the Forrest can easily be viewed as an act of vandalism and land him back in prison for violating parole.
2) Hooligans in general are extremely aggressive by nature.
3) Like someone else mentioned videos like this could help identify several members of the fan club participating in acts of vandalism which could lead to arrests or bans from the stadium.
You are extremely lucky nothing came out of this and good on you for running. I am sorry that this is a thing and it is not your fault for not realizing the immediate danger of the situation.
However I would abstain from posting it anywhere else on social medias.
It’s Dziady
Worshipping the polish Cthulhu (but because they live in Warsaw they do it in a park, not on the sea)
Poland pro tip: If you see flares just go away immedietly.
Just be thankful you didn’t get your teeth knocked out.
They are summoning Khorn deamons.
I have a friend who got attacked/chased/harrassed for wearing another club’s shirt. He was after training
How you got out of it in one piece is beyond me
Some dresiarz birthday I guess? Dresiarz is like russian gopnik, but slightly more football-oriented. Minimally football-oriented, they’re still basically lowlife thugs.
As mentioned before, it is a good rule of thumb to avoid people with flares. And not recording them. Not just in Poland, but in many european countries these will be ultra football (other sports) fans. often using flares is illegal, which when recorded can be viewed as an attempt to call police etc.
It’s a gender reveal party
