I sometimes see people acting a bit indignant over the idea that trans people are starting to look at leaving the UK for other countries, but hopefully this shows that the UK is not some kind of special haven. The continual movement down the ranks in terms of LGBTQ+ rights, as well as the fact that now both main political parties are expressing transphobic views shows that there is a lot for trans people in the UK to be concerned about.
For those that wonder why trans people are suffering due to all this bigotry, please see this section from the full report:
> In a meeting with the EHRC on 4 May 2023, the Independent Expert was shocked to hear that the EHRC offered that advice without itself having any definition of ‘biological sex’; UK law provides no such definition either.
Lets just change the law to something that has no definition and they themselves can’t even define…
Also there is no 100% medical definition of “Biological Sex”, that’s why everything uses “Legal Sex”, Sex is extremely complex and not just XX or XY.
> The EHRC however specifically conceded that, in the context of the letter, the intended meaning of the term “biological sex” is to define women as **“women who are not trans.”** As one Commissioner elaborated: “under the Equality Act, […] a trans woman who does have a GRC is a woman under the current case law. […] if the government decides to make the amendment, they don’t need to define biological sex, they can do it by way of exclusion of the GRA.” **It then follows that the objective of the EHRC was to offer the Government a formula through which it could carry out discriminatory distinctions currently unlawful under UK law, and that will remain so under international human rights law.** The Independent Expert is of the opinion that this action of the EHRC is wholly unbecoming of an institution created to “stand up for those in need of protection and hold governments to account for their human rights obligations” (mission statement, EHRC webpage; emphasis added).
Basically, they wanted this to actually say ~~Biological Sex~~ **Not Trans**, with no actual justification past just being transphobic and bigoted.
And even state the whole point is just to be able to discriminate against trans people, there is no justification given past “we want to discriminate against trans people”
> The Independent Expert heard that the acrimonious nature of the discussion impacts persons holding very different points of view, and accusations of silencing and “cancellation” are also made by those who hold the point of view that gender identity is an ideology,
All the science and medical data from the international body (WPATH) says stuff we don’t agree with, so were just going to ignore/cancel it.
If you don’t agree with us then you part of the “Gender Ideology”. Even though it is an international know medical science and well established as an actual thing and not an ideology at all.

Also another gem:
> ….The expert also took issue with recent advice by the UK Equalities and Human Rights
Commission to the UK Government that promoted the reduction in human rights protections for trans persons with legal recognition of their gender. **“These actions were admittedly with the objective of withdrawing trans women from legal protections to which they are entitled under the Equality Act,”** Madrigal Borloz said.
The UK government’s own body, has basically said, it’s not about protecting Women or Women’s Spaces, as so many love to claim, it literally about being transphobic and bigoted, this is literal political persecution and out right attempted extermination.
No shit. We have a government actively trying to delete transgendered citizens.
I wonder what the focus of conversation will be here?
Surely it’ll be about how and why this has happened?
Oh it’s toilets / prisons / sports again. Sigh.
Who would have thought that a country with an electorate consistently voting in a Conservative party would see ideas and movements that don’t align with Conservative values being rejected. quashed and oppressed.
Just another normal day on normal island. Nothing to see here.
I wonder why London has some of the worst attitudes for rights in the whole UK…
So much for tolerance.
Complete idiot on this but why is the UK going down the ranks on this metric? Can someone please ELI5?
Every person I know has questions that I cant find answers to regarding transgenderism.
I also come for a fairly liberal / open minded bubble.
This is probably one of the only issues with immigration propelling the Tories right now as there hasn’t been any answers to the following question from the left:
Will there be infringements on women’s rights if the definition of a woman becomes loose?
Should anyone be able to identify as a woman?
Can a full grown big bearded man identify as a woman and if they commit a crime go to a women’s prison and be put in a cell with a woman? Why or why not?
Should a biological man be able to identify as a woman and compete in women’s sports? Or do they have to transition first? If so, why?
Is this one of the rankings we are supposed to just accept or one of the ones where we all comment about how it’s completely wrong and then dissect the methodology using personal anecdotes such as the ones which rank the UK as one of the most racially tolerant countries on the planet?
It’s difficult to keep up these days…
Ironically anti-trans people attempt to pretend their argument is pro-LGB(T). Joanna Cherry who is the latest terf to do the media tour is lesbian herself afaik. Turkeys voting for Christmas
