Guys, just a thought, but these Tories might not be nice people.
Yet when you say that the rise of this hard right authoritarian brand of government is a threat to democracy, people tell you you’re overreacting. This is the kind of thing we’d be appalled by in any other country. And it’s happening right here right now, in YOUR country. What will you do about it?
Tory’s will Tory. It’s incredible they feel no shame. It’s all about themselves and fuck anyone else.

Should be an immediate sacking for misuse of power and another election called. A crime commissioner has no business acting in such a manner and should be sacked for gross misconduct in a public office.
Conceptually, I had some time for the idea of Police and Crime Commissioners. Police authorities were awful and full of mostly awful local politicians that hid behind public apathy and confusing governance.
At least with PCCs there is some genuine accountability, hence I guess this article…
But good god, the legislation around them needs to be tightened up.
The idea that a serving PCC can even consider running as a local councillor simultaneously is rediculous. Not only is there the time commitment, but how on earth would they avoid accusations of favouring the borough they were a councillor in when it came to commissioning of services or funding of community safety initiatives?
It’s a broadly sensible system implemented dementedly.
I worked in and around policing for well over a decade, and some PCCs are genuinely really good and genuinely care about improving their area. I never came across a good police authority.
But the system doesn’t do enough to safeguard against ego-maniacs, lunatics and utterly incompetent buffoons. And when you’re dealing with a position that is essentially an executive of one, you need much more rigor than for most political roles where other colleagues tend to moderate each others more zaney tendencies.
Introducing pointless mayors on top of local councils and PCCs was a total waste of money even without scandals.
“it involved fraud officers making three home visits to see three different activists, where they were “interrogated” over the contents of their election literature.”

Old told by plain clothes officer they were investigating because an election leaflet had “upset Steve”.

WTF
Does this not feel like a bit of a non-story? When you read, he didn’t even report it to the police himself, he simply raised it with an election officer who then contacted the police themselves. I suppose that’s why the headline uses such tortured wording as “triggered two police investigations”, which seems to be trying to dance around the fact that he only contacted the police himself about the other matter (apparently a personal threat over Whatsapp).
Wow, the very worst thing people warmed about when this change to politicise police oversight come true, who would have thought!!
I think he thought he was meant to commission crime
Should we go into how dodgy this is? I think that in America they call this ratfucking.
> One complaint was about a Labour election leaflet in Tory blue colours – which he thought might break electoral rules.
Epping Forest Conservative Party/Council do this with green colours. Is he aware of this?
They did the same with Nicola Sturgeon, Tories are evil to the core!!
