That seems a harsh outcome just for punching a video.
The only video I’ve seen shows literally two seconds before the punching and two secondw after the punching.
This means we have two options – either the videographer very fortunately started the video just 2 seconds before the police officer started punching a defenceless man in the face on the ground, and ended the video seconds after a valid reason (battery ran out? Memory ran out? Had to nip to catch a bus?). Alternatively, the video was longer but has been cropped before being posted to social media in order to remove everyone’s activities before and after the punches.
I think the second scenerio is far more likely than the first… And we have to ask ourselves why would you crop a video like this? Probably because removing the context and background makes everything a lot more emotive and will get more likes…
It looks bad as it is but there are rare situations where head strikes are justifiable and necessary. We don’t know whether it was one of these situations because the poster has clipped out all context. So I’ll reserve judgement for now
