Finally. It’s retarded beyond reason, i could not believe it, esp in glaring cases like Mons/Bergen, Luik/Liege, Aken/Aachen, Tirlemont/Tienen etc. The names are unrecognizable, it’s ridiculous if you live here, and it’s ridiculous x1000000 if you’re just passing through Belgium
To be fair, that is the only way that it makes sense (as long as the letters are readable, chinese and arabic might be a bit hard here, but there are very few signs to Bejing here). I never understood the point of translating a name. It is a name.

As a walloon I often find that I’m looked as an alien when I say Antwerp en or gent when speaking french while even some Flemish friend switch to Anvers and Gand while speaking french. I always thought that it make sense to use the local name everywhere unless it is really difficult to say maybe. ^^
