Three workers are buried under sand at UZ Gasthuisberg Leuven: one dead, colleague in critical condition

  1. I would like to see what the different parties say regarding workplace accidents and enforcing safety and work inspections, because later, we all are amazed about [“1.27 million Belgians do not work and are not looking for a job”](https://www.vrt.be/vrtnws/nl/2023/05/19/werkzaamheid/) while the work inspectorate is often looking away and safety is not followed.

All my support to the victims and their families. Hope they wont suffer an additional hell in the court of law, like [often happens when companies or insurances refuse to cover work accidents.](https://www.vrt.be/vrtnws/nl/2023/05/19/werkzaamheid/) For example in this case of TOTAL Antwerp:

[Nine years after fatal accident, Total and co are in court: “The lives of the relatives have been destroyed”](https://www.nieuwsblad.be/cnt/dmf20221007_94928973)

  2. The article speaks of a pit 6-7m deep in sand. I honestly dont get how those walls could cave in if proper safety-measures were used ([like this one](https://www.safetybydesigninc.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/trenching-and-excavation-safety-tips.jpg) for example). Sad to hear people losing their lives because safety-measures were neglected for either saving time or saving money or by nonchalance.

In the end of the day there are always families that need to be fed and want their dad/spouse/son to come back home too.
