  1. 30 years, a large part of that due to police incompetence.

Attempting to frame an innocent man, who’s life was ruined despite the case against him being thrown out by a judge.

  2. Got to be honest, that’s flimsy evidence. There could be 2000 in the UK with that DNA match level. The jury bought a prosecutors fallacy. It could well of been him. But it’s unsafe.

BTW I recall the original acquital I think, the family yelled at the jury that the not guilty man had confessed, after the jury cleared him.

  3. This has been a long time coming. I remember that night well. It must have been hell for the family to wait so long to see justice done. I hope they’re finally able to find whatever peace they can.

The placement of the DNA makes it exceptionally unlikely she “encountered it” somewhere. That it’s a match to a known sex offender living next door makes it unreasonable to doubt what happened in my view.

The area was never the same after that. They pulled most of it down and gentrified it.
