  1. Excerpt:^1

    >The house in Austria that Adolf Hitler was born in is to be used for human rights training for police officers in the latest twist to a long-running row over what to do with it.

    >The government bought the building in Braunau am Inn near the German border under a compulsory purchase order in 2016 after a lengthy dispute.

    >The genocidal dictator was born in a rented room on the top floor in 1889.

    >Construction work to convert the house is expected to start in the autumn.

  2. I’m certain they’ll do something which will show Austria as victims of “Nazis”.

*We had been advocating for human rights from the very beginning, weren’t we?*

  3. Fair enough Human Rights training for police is a fitting use.

A Holocaust Museum would have been a step up though.

  4. I spent a night in Braunau a few years ago on a road trip with my dad, it was pouring down and we just went for the first hotel. We ended up having a blast in a local bar, my dad even almost got laid lol (luckily he didn’t, would have been a hell of an awkward night since we were sharing a room). A few weeks later in Hungary I was chatting with a group of Germans and mentioned Braunau, they all looked at me funny wondering what was I doing there and they brought up that it’s Hitler’s hometown! Had no idea.
