Bedford FC manager quits following controversial Bitcoin takeover

  1. The article fails to explain what exactly this has to do with Bitcoin. Sure, the new owner is backed by a Bitcoin group, but why the managers are leaving beyond a generic “our position is untenable” is not explained. It could, and probably has nothing to do with Bitcoin, but the financial policies or control a new owner wants to bring in to ensure their investment is worthwhile.

  2. I think it fair to say the new owner has aspirations that are somewhat untypical (whether ambitious, optimistic or insane is the most fitting word remains to be seen) of the proprietor of a 10th tier football club. If nothing else (along with the club being renamed – to “Real Bedford” (!), it being given a new logo and colours and “international fan clubs” (!!!) being set up, what he brings is a major culture change, and I’m not surprised it might make incumbents uncomfortable or wary.

His plans, in his own words, outlined here https://mobile.twitter.com/PeterMcCormack/status/1471442197006405633

Brave, maybe in the Yes Minister sense, certainly
