  1. Brilliant news, another excellent project. The red kite reintroduction has been a great success, you now see them all around the Wicklow Mountains.

More good news stories like this please.

  2. the wolf should be reintroduced as well. time and time again you hear about the overpopulation of deer etc. they’re a very misunderstood animal. they stay well away from humans and they are instinctively terrified of us. it would be amazing to reintroduce them

  3. There has been a huge collapse in numbers of native birds in the past few years and some of this has to be due to the explosion of buzzard numbers. Am I the only one worried that if you keep on introducing Apex predators into a vulnerable ecosystem we are going to have undesired consequences?

  4. 151 years after they became extinct in Ireland, last remaining newly re-introduced osprey found poisoned.

I’m honestly shocked they’re even allowing us to give this a shot because the farmers always kill off newly re-introduced birds of prey.

  5. Ospreys are generally monogamous, and there’s a breeding pair that always raise chick’s on a certain piling at our beach. I like to grab my binoculars and watch them hunt and occasionally get into a scuffle with a bald eagle

  6. Great news. I wonder how long before the fishermen say they are eating all the fish and start poisoning them, like the farmers did with the Eagles saying they were taking all the lambs.

  7. I’ve seen an osprey in Ireland, admittidly I think i was a bird from Scotland migrating to France for winter. But does the bird have to be resident to be considered not extinct?
