Royal superfan arrested and locked up for 13 hours at coronation for standing near protesters

  1. Disgusting, but if you support the leader of a fascist state, you’ve got to expect to get bitten by the state every now and then.

  2. “The arresting officer was from Lincolnshire Police and the complaint has therefore been passed to the relevant force to investigate. The Met will assist by providing any relevant information they require.”

The Met are dodging all responsibility. Trying to say the arresting officer was the one who made the mistake.

  3. oh no! it must be awful to be arrested when you haven’t commited a crime!?!?

    …..kind of like the protestors…..

  4. The royalists and right wingers are going to be up in arms about this.

Not because the police were clearly indiscriminately arresting people for standing around, but because *one of their own* was also arrested

I can just hear them now, “disgraceful that she was arrested. But all those others…lock them up and throw away the key”

Edit: As expected, the comments on the Mail Online are calling for public apologies and compensation being given to this woman. But not the dozens of others who were also arrested with no evidence of any wrongdoing.

  5. I swear I saw a video of this happening in Moscow when a pro-Putin demonstrator confronted an anti-war protestor and the police swooped in and just grabbed all of them together.

  6. >I understand why the police were on the edge, they did have a tough job that day. But they need to have better processes and better training in place because innocent people shouldn’t be getting locked up for that long.

    Innocent people… Such as protestors?

  7. That was a difficult read. The subscription thing kept popping up.

“I asked them, ‘Was there anything I could have done that would have meant I didn’t end up here?’”

You could have maintained a healthy lack of interest in the personages of the royal family. Play arbitrary rule games, win arbitrary arrest prizes.

  8. Repubbies have all gone quiet since Saturday, must be something on the telly. Plus, knackered from all the coming that they did over the weekend.

  9. Am I bad for chuckling at this? I realise it’s shitty for her, hope she’s alright and all, but there’s some bizzare humour in this absurd situation.

  10. It’s so amusing that people on here claim “ uk isn’t remotely fascist “ when both the head of state and the head of government are unelected and the public aren’t up in arms about it. Probably because when there is even a sniff of them protesting about such things they get arrested.

The British are the most likely to become racist out of all the western developed nations for two reasons, one they’re so easily led by bad actors and two, they’re complacent.

If you still think the uk isn’t remotely fascist, what happens in Russia when you protest the war ?

  11. Wonder if she’s still a fan after going through that? There was a video from Russia of someone who was actually in full support of the “special operation” being taken away and put in a van for being in the wrong place at the wrong time and stopping to answer a question. If they think they can keep support of the monarchy going with actions like this, they are mistaken.
