I saw this offer by salt and considered taking it, but I don’t trust this “lifetime discount”. Is it actually valid for as long as I stay with Salt? Or do I have to pay the full 80 CHF after some time? The “Factsheet” doesn’t really detail anything of this kind

When I got mine – they said if I do it in store it’s only 48 months. But – they said online it’s valid for the duration of your contact with salt. Agree it seems too good to be true but I have it in a contract.
Keep in mind the “lifetime” part of the offer often refers to the discount (-65% in this case) and not the fixed price of 29.-. So if they raise the regular price by 20% of 80, your price will also increase by 20% of 29.
Very strange- when I’m trying to buy a new contract it says : “ Subscription: Swiss XXL
Contract duration: 1 months” not even 48 months:((
thats a realy bad offer. normaly it costs 25.– since at least 2 years. the cheapest i saw was 20.–
Buy the promo from wingo. Wingo Europe now for 34.95
I think they are betting on data only getting cheaper over time. So if you are still paying this price in 5 or 10 years, you are way overpaying by then. So they might as well offer it for life. I got a wingo “lifetime” deal for black friday 1.5 years ago and the price never changed so far and i am not expecting it to.
Its like if MediaMarkt would have guaranteed you a lifetime price of 2000 francs for a 25kg computer with 1GB of storage in the 90s. That may have well been a bargain back then, but by 2023 you could easily buy a 1kg desktop PC with 1TB storage for 500 francs. So if you want to insist on the life time price from the 90s, that doesnt hurt MediaMarkt at all. It would in fact give them an awesome margin.
And another question: i already have a mobile contract with Salt – will they transform that one to this offer or give me a new contract, so I would have to cancel the old one myself?
A friend of mine is now a customer of Wingo after Salt basically cancelled his contract 2 years in.
Mine has been valid for 3 y now no problem. But they start pestering you with sms ads asking you to renew your subscription to not lose benefits etc. Such a douche move.
I got mine with the last promo and did it in store because the online registration did not work. This promo is valid but there is a caveat if you do it online or in store. When you do it Online it is a promoted, but doing it in store it will run „only“ 24 months. But before the end they will send an SMS so i can renew it with the same promo. So doing it online it just works and in store you „renew“ it after the 24 months period.
But i doubt it that i will renew it because the reception is awful. When i get 5G all is fine but i live in lucerne, like 10min from the main station, and sometimes only have 3G…
For the love of god, do NOT go to salt. You pay a premium price for a discount product. Use wingo instead, it’s actually cheap and works perfectly fine.
I Contracted my “lifetime” contact in 2016. In my overview it was stated it will last until 2024. Actually 2 months ago they changed my subscription to a 10Fr cheeper one with the same services. That will probably be the reason you will have to change it anyway someday
I have an unlimited option with them for 45.- Oginally they said it lasts for 5 years and it was 50.-, Then in the last black Friday I called them that I go for the Sunrise’s offer 47.- for the same (the catch it would last only for 2 years)
So I called them and they offered:
-New price: 45.-
-90.- gratis (1 free month both for me and my girlfriend)
-The contract changed to be unlimited .
The only catch with them that the coverage and the quality in Switzerland is horrible compared to the competition. It is okay in other countries as there you use local providers network. (that matters me)
So if the quality is a concer for you I would check out Swisscom.
I got it a while ago. Lifetime guarantee o discount (+ cancel anytime). Too easy
Valid for as long as you enter new 24 month contracts whenever the current one runs out.
If you just let the contract lapse you will pay full price.
This is shit compared to the new offer of Galaxus mobile
I only ever renew with such contracts and when I cannot I call and complain. I have never paid the full price. Actually what happens is that the newer offers tend to stay around 30fr a month but they increase the data packages available in foreign countries. So you have to change from time to time anyway but it’s easy to stay around 30fr a month for a long time.
I asked them this and first they said it’s only for 2 years than I insisted that they write in my contract the maximum which was in 2019 2029. This means lifetime is 10years?
i have and had a few of these, usually they are valid about 10 years, in the salt portal you can see it.
I got this contract like 4 years ago and I’m still paying the same price as before. They even allowed me to upgrade to the new terms with unlimited 5g and keep the same price.
Not really a good deal.
Strip away the roaming and you can get unlimited CH for 19.00 at yallo and possibly other ISPs. With a wa better network than what salt provides.
When do you actually need 5GB of data every month outside of switzerland? If you browse a bit, 5GB will be gone really fast. And it doesen’t accumulate if you don’t use it in one month.
Either you need dramatically less than 5GB or more. And if you do, a data package will be cheaper. Well… exept you travel every month.
I mean, those bucks you save can already pay for a UHD netflix subscription
That is already a high price even with discount to be fair. Also salt are scammers. They get you with late fees and other hidden costs. Its one of those companies that hide a lot of bullshit in the fine print. If you really want a cheap contract go with galaxus mobile for 19 or something
I would say these kind of deals comes 1-2 times a year. I have basically had a similar deal for about 6 years, usually a 2 year term, and at the end I threaten to walk or keep the deal. I personally think it’s a good deal and I’m happy with salt. Lifetime deals are bullshit, if you read the 102 pages of T&C you will likely read they can at any time change your contract and your free to accept or walk.
So far after 4 years I have the same price (+1chf after an adjustment this year) so its actually pretty solid
Salt is horrible, i advise you to not make a subscription, doesnt matter how cheap it is.
Until they decide it isn’t valid anymore, which is probably states in the terms and conditions
I recommend looking for deals around Black Friday. I’m getting unlimited everything in Switzerland, unlimited calls and data in the EU, and 2GB of data per month in Canada and the US (I’m Canadian so I visit Canada about once per year) for 25 CHF. This price is fixed for 2 years, but when the time comes and it raises, I’ll just replace it with the next offer they have.
