  1. Tripodon street, located in the historical center of Athens holds the Guinness record of the oldest street in Europe. It has been walked for 25 centuries and it has never been renamed. It used to be the route the Athenians took to go from Agora to the theater of Dionysus. Τριπόδων is the name that corresponds to the tripods made of bronze along the road, serving as sponsored prizes for the winners of theatrical and musical contests.

  2. Fascinating. Was the name exactly the same in Ancient Greek as in Modern Greek? If it is exactly the same, does it sound archaic or not for modern Greek speakers?

It is an incredibly narrow street (as most streets in the old city of Athens are), and runs for roughly 200m along the northwest side of the Acropolis in the Plaka neighborhood, roughly acting as a connector from the ancient Agora and Roman Forum towards the site of the Theatre of Dionysus on the southeastern corner of Acropolis hill.
