# Assassinating Vladimir Putin is the “top priority” of the Ukrainian secret service
**The head of Ukrainian military intelligence has revealed that his services are seeking to assassinate the Russian president. Kiev would also like to kill the head of the Wagner mercenary group.**

Vladimir Putin assassinated by Ukrainian secret services? This is not the plot of a spy movie, but the ambition of Vadym Skibitsky, deputy director of Kiev’s military intelligence services. In an interview with the German newspaper Die Welt, he reveals his plans to kill the master of the Kremlin.
According to Vadym Skibitsky, the death of the Russian president is currently the “top priority” of his services. “He’s at the top of our list,” says the master spy. For him, the war in Ukraine will only end with the death of the commander-in-chief of the Russian army, who “coordinates” the offensive and “decides what happens” at the front.

But Vladimir Putin is not the only one Kiev is targeting. The deputy director of intelligence claims that Yevgeny Prigozhin, head of the Wagner mercenary group, is also a target.
“We’re trying to kill him,” he admits. Vadym Skibitsky nevertheless believes that the priority remains assassinating Putin, and thus cutting off Wagner’s controlling hand. “Our priority is to eliminate the commander who orders his men to attack,” he asserts.

Kiev has formally denied any responsibility for the attack. Moscow also pointed the finger of blame at the United States. Since the beginning of the conflict, Washington has discouraged any Ukrainian attack on Russian soil.
Wagner seems to be a bigger problem than Putin. He isn’t favorable among Russians anymore, and if there is a tinge of democracy left in Russia, he won’t be elected. Wagner on the other hand is a terrorist organization masquerading as mercenary group in Europe.
Edit: I had a misconception about something. I was wrong. Putin’s support have increased since the start of war. Putin being the biggest target is a good decision.
I rather think it’s the top priority for a few, secret service or not. Putting Russia back on track in the economic world is a necessity for a lot of people. Their super yachts are the second necessity I assume.

I obviously know fuck all about these sorts of things, but I can’t imagine that Putin being assassinated by a foreign entity would end the war. Someone will replace him and would essentially be forced to double down to “save face”. Even Russians that hate Putin would be hard-pressed to accept/condone that happening.
When was the last time Putin did something non debatably good

Why? That makes him a martyr and he will be replaced by Putin II. Regardless of what kind of legal power he would have, he is not forcing all of Russia to do anything. No dictator can rule by force alone, even they need at least military and some kind of power base on their side. He is actually popular in Russia, his successor could have similar policies with similar popularity.

It is quite impossible imho. There were several attempts to assassinate Hitler, all failed. And he even went out to meet people. Putin just sits in bunker or travels secretly in panzer train.
Is this honestly even smart? Assassination of head of state feels like something that could actually invoke a nuclear response lol
