I’m going to Nerdland Festival tomorrow! Really looking forward to it, first time I go.
Science > Scheire, bekt ook beter met die Saturday erbij.
Allrighty, last lessons are over. Let’s go full on hermit mode and study.
Electric bike doesn’t work. Hopefully it’s just the contact that’s a bit loose. If it’s something more expensive I might be better off buying a new one.
Going to play warhammer 40k boltgun later. Looks like a very fun game. Let’s purge some heretics.
I love my job. I’m really good at it and i’ve been doing it for 10 years. but i’m feeling that my body is breaking down. It’s a very physical job and i work in a dusty environment. I know if i work another 10 years there it will be very unhealthy for my body and i wanna live long. But my colleagues are like my best friends and my work is top notch. I want a different job and follow my passion but it’s so, so hard to turn the switch and make the decision. Several people are already leaving and i know i will hurt them when i quit. It’s just so hard. End of rant.
Two slow chats??? Keuzestress! 🤣.
(Is there a proper English word for that?).
I contemplated going to Nerdland but there were already plans on the agenda, fingers crossed for next year. Have fun OP!
Waiting for PostNL to deliver my son’s lock picking set.. when did this become a thing?!
Got a bit of mom-stress today, it’s the first time my teen son is meeting up with friends from school on his own. Not sure why it’s giving me stress, I spend most of my teen years riding my bike all over town without my parents knowing where we were. Just had to be home in time for dinner or whenever the street lights turned on.
But a lot of things have changed since then.
He’s normally the type of kid that just wants to meet up with his friends online for gaming, no matter how often we told him he could also really meet up with friends. No prob with that, I gamed a lot too when I was younger but I also went out with friends a lot.
And now he’s off and I’m incredibly proud, my boy is growing up, becoming independent,,.. why is this so scary at the same time?
Anyhow, off to the market later for dried fruit, some asparagus and maybe strawberries… Yes, most definitely need strawberries today!
I went to the neighbourhood party yesterday and it was fun. Arrived as first one, left as the last one. I think I was one of the youngest one there ( except for all the children of the families). I was hesitant at first, but it all worked out 🙂
Today I’ve got the first baby shower in my friend group. I didn’t know what to bring either, but I guess a card and some cash won’t hurt? When I first got the announcement I bought some stuff for them on their wishlist.
Are laptops basically disposable things that you need to rebuy every couple of years?
In my experience, it doesn’t matter how much you pay for them, if you’re not able to clean the fans properly, it will slow down to a crawl within a couple of years.
I paid 1500+ euro for a HP Omen laptop 3 years ago. The cool thing is that it’s reasonably easy to open up. HP provides a lot of support on their site.
I recently had to deal with my laptop overheating. Just cleaning out the fan wasn’t enough nor re-applying thermal paste. The exhausts were also completely clogged with dust over the years. Then I noticed that my cpu fan needed to be replaced. I did it today and everything seems to be fine now. My laptop doesn’t sound like a jetplane taking off anymore.
Downsides:
– Part numbers are listed on the HP site which is a positive, but the finding the actual parts was pretty hard. I only found 1 seller for my CPU fan for Belgium.
– You need plastic prying tools to pry off the cover. If you use metal tools, you will damage it.

I personally think it was worth the investment from the niche case where you’re not getting a pc, but do want to play the occasional game and have the option to easily open up the laptop itself.
Easily maintenable laptops should be a thing.
Ugh.
I’m going tomorrow to Nerdland woop woop. We’re bringing the little kiddo with us so we won’t be able to stay late but it will still be fun.
I’m going tomorrow with my middle child (almost 13m) can’t wait.
