Are they being paid? Because if they aren’t then as noble as this is, then it isn’t a solution to the understaffing problem. They’re depressing the wages of NHS staff and excusing underfunding. If I were reactionary I would be demanding we deflate their tires.
The media spinning this as a wholesome story about student volunteers when in reality the NHS should never have been reduced to this state.
