It is good that PS will hold their ground. Slipping now will make them Keskusta number 2 thus losing huge amounts of voters next election.
RKP is minority party. They have got too much voice already in the history. It is now time to make them little bit quieter. Let’s see. We are living interesting times.
Lack of negotiating? They are negotiating right now.
PS and RKP needs to put up a show for their voters, but in the end the middle ground wins and government is formed. (this might not be the final act in the show, though)
What are the changes for asylum seeker? Doesn’t make any sense to change it only for legal working immigrants.
Immigrant here: why are only RKP and FP duking it out on the immigration issue? I though there wasn’t much difference between the immigration policies of NCP and RKP. Why aren’t NCP against the 40000/year policy? Does NCP just go wherever the wind blows? I moved to Finland as the Rinne government started, so I have limited knowledge of who NCP is or what they stand for, so ELI5 please, rather than answering how you would answer if a Finn was asking this question (this is a common way to respond to questions from foreigners on r/Finland).
Also it’s so fun when the fate of immigrants are decided when none of the parties involved care to listen or hear what the immigrants think or say.
“Finns Party” is Finland’s trumpanzees.
It’s clear to me that kokoomus really didn’t want PS with them from the beginning. It’s not so much a question of policies, I’m sure they could agree to a compromise on most things.. but it’s the people of PS and their behavior on social media and the fear of how they will look if they need to associate themselves with PS for four years. But that’s just my two cents and i could be wrong.
Purra is an embarrassment for Finland. Her and Petturi Urpo both.
Swedish peoples party is trying to overplay their share of the vote and I am guessing most of the other parties involved in talks are not happy for it. They will either yield begrudgingly or break the talks to set them selves up to be part of left wing coalition.
Normal politics? Sucks though that the SFP has so much leverage. Center has no reason to become a principled lefty party. I would take their bEtTeR vAlUeS any day over the “Swedes'”
My guess is that whatever the problems at the moment, they will continue negotianing after cooling off for a while and form the government.
The other possibility is minority government without RKP. I don’t think they want to invite new parties in.
its just rkp throwing hissy fit other govermental parties are ok with the program
It’s not a negotiation if she thinks that she can dictate the deal.
This is going to go on forever…
Rikka Purra sounds like something I would name my cat
I’d hate to be Orpo. He gained a handsome win in the elections, but the Center party not wishing to partucipate in the government makes it really difficult for him to form the goverment he wants.
Both PS and RKP can now hold the talks hostage and both do. Orpo is sweating from the thought of having to accommodate SDP.
What Orpo should do, in my mind, is threathen to cut down the number of sote-regions to a more sensible five. That would wake the Center party up and they’ll try to enter the goverment, in order to defend their only success story in the previous government.
Does this apply to EU citizens too, or do they still have right of movement to go to Finland?
