Prague plans to build a new philharmonic hall on the Vltava river for roughly €400M. The city hopes to finish it in 10 years.

Honestly I don’t see how such a (rather) brutalist building would fit in the otherwise beautiful historical center of Prague, in my opinion they should build something in modern style, but still with regards to the environment. A building like the Sydney Opera house blends in, because there are barely (if any) historical buildings. Maybe something modern with classical elements, it’s a philharmonic hall after all…

  2. As someone from Hamburg who witnessed the construction of the Elbphilharmonie: it’s probably going to take a lot longer and cost a lot more in the end. The concept looks pretty cool tho, so it might be worth it

  3. Please don’t pull a Hamburg Elbphilharmonie:

    – plan to finish in 3 years for 77M €
    – actually finish after 10 years for 866 MILLION EURO!

    Absolute insanity that taxpayers had to pay for. Looks nice tho.

  4. Like how it kind of references the Sydney opera house a bit with the curves on the second image! think it would work absolutely fantastic at that location
