  1. I yelled with fans from Latvija so loudly that I can barely speak. They played a great game and have amazing fans.

  2. This is just massive victory for ice hockey! This is easily biggest surprise victory in ice hockey ever, and by far smallest country no matter how you measure it.

But what really won it was the crowd support. Its one thing for players to be happy, but when its entire nation that supports them, that is something special even if you don’t care about sports or patriotism. At it’s best, Finland managed to get 3,14 million viewers to watch world championships, which is more than half the country, but we have never ever had as good fans as Latvians have consistently had. They would have deserved this match to be held in Riga, they would have deserved to win at home.

One day Latvia will win at home! One day Latvia can even go for gold! And i will be happy for it, even if it would be victory over Finland.

  3. Yep, it happened. Kind of unbelievable with decent amount of luck to get that far but team Latvia did it by playing just disciplined and good hockey, definitely on par with all the best teams. Congratulations, well deserved!
