> Under questioning from Dep Stanely on the use of the semi-detached prefabricated accommodation, Mr O’Connor outlined a possible future use. He said the buildings, which are 45 sq metres, could be reconfigured by merging two together, to give one full-sized social house. Mr O’Connor said there is another potential use.
> “We were cognisant of possible future use. It can be lifted and sent off to Ukraine as part of Ireland’s aid to Ukraine later. It is a lift-and-plug house,” he said.
Could be used for anything they’ve a 60yr life
Notwithstanding the obvious conflict in sending houses abroad in the future when we have a housing supply issue, this is not a bad idea. When the war has ended, there will be a huge effort on getting Ukraine back on its knees and supporting the Ukrainians to move home.
Look as long as Dennis O Brown got paid, it doesn’t matte what happened to them
So they will build lot’s of socialist housing and give them to another country and use the rest to give almost free homes to refugee’s but would never do the same for their own citizens? I am not against immigration or anything like this but this shit just pisses me off tbh.
Surely it’s a bit like IKEA furniture. Yeah, it *can* be dismantled, brought somewhere else and rebuilt, but in the end, the effort isn’t justified given the low initial cost.
Not very eco friendly shipping houses off to Ukraine is it?
Not a chance of that happening. Once they are built they will never be moved again. It’s all bollocks talk.
Mad,not a house for anyone in this country for years, and like magic, this problem CAN be solved overnight
