The FTC in the US is trying to block this merger so this is the least of their problems if that happens.
The block was unfair. Microsoft’s competitors in the gaming market are way ahead. Even Playstation just announced a cloud gaming service so claims it was to protect the cloud gaming market are bogus. And besides, cloud gaming is shit compared to local gaming, that market will only mature for niche products. Absolutely no one wants to play a game with 500ms latency. Not that many people even have internet good enough to make it usable.
The amount of people wanting this deal to go through is just crazy to me. A megacorporation gobbling up huge chunks of an industry to try and strong arm their competitors is not good for anyone.
Expect to see even more utterly bland cut and paste games and stupidly high prices for unfinished products if this goes through.
My only thing I’m watching on is if US equivalent also approve, it will put CMA’s integrity under question. This is bigger than Meta & Giphy.
I hope Microsoft win. They can do a lot for healthy competition.

Won’t someone think of the billionaires who get children addicted to gambling?
As expected, they cleared the EUs decision and will probably use it as a bargaining tool here.
