Kosovo Serbs clash with KFOR

  1. Serbs being Serbs, boycotting elections and not accepting after the results. Going in one protest after another! They need to accept Kosovo is a separate country and it will never be Serbia

  2. Not even an hour since this was posted and already filled with chauvinism and ethnic hate against Serbs. Nothing new for /r/europe and it’s mods…

  3. Peaceful KFOR army, armed with assault rifles gets attacked while protesting, violent serbian savages (AGAIN) confirm and shout “We love violence”. /s

    These people have no shame.

  4. At one point, you expect NATO/EU to actually force both sides to fix it, but since some NATO/EU countries like Spain don’t recognize Kosovo. We will stay in this limbo.

Every time Vucic faces problems, there’s tensions in Kosovo, and a Serbian army on the highest state of readiness.

  5. I understand that here is a lot stupid people which is okey. When Albanians starts to complete their agreement we won’t boycott anything

2013 community of Serbs should havebeen created but its so hard to do that, it’s lot easier to act like victims

Kosovo’s president blamed Serbs [on Twitter](https://twitter.com/VjosaOsmaniPRKS/status/1663218288011124740?s=20):

    >Serb illegal structures turned into criminal gangs have attacked Kosovo police, KFOR officers & journalists. These unacceptable acts of violence should be condemned by all. Those who carry out Vucic’s orders to destabilize the north of Kosovo must face justice.

State Secretary in the Ministry of Defense of Serbia Nemanja Starović said that two Serbs were wounded by firearms during the conflict in Zvečan and that the Kosovo police used live ammunition. He said [on Twitter](https://twitter.com/nstarovic/status/1663206198210883584?s=20):

    >”Thugs from the so-called Kosovo police fired live ammunition, protesters were injured, and one is in critical condition”.

He also claimed that [this picture](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FxToUXmXwAY6UYV?format=jpg&name=small) is the proof that “the Serbs were largely sitting prior to the attack by KFOR”, in another post [on Twitter](https://twitter.com/nstarovic/status/1663209777453776896?s=20).

Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo Besnik Bislimi said that “the elected mayors can only fulfill their obligations from municipal buildings”, Euronews Albania [reports](https://euronews.al/en/deputy-pm-of-kosovo-mayors-can-only-work-from-municipality-buildings/). On the other hand, US ambassador in Prishtina said “we believe it is not necessary for elected mayors to work every day from those facilities”, media [reported](https://n1info-rs.translate.goog/vesti/pojacano-prisustvo-kfor-u-zvecanu-i-leposavicu-hovenijer-pozvao-na-sastanak/?_x_tr_sl=sr&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=sr&_x_tr_pto=wapp).

The Serb attack on KFOR members was denounced by the highest-ranking foreign officials. Euronews [reports](https://www.euronews.com/2023/05/29/nato-condemns-clashes-in-kosovo-25-kfor-troops-injured-3-critical):

    >
    >The Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, also expressed her “strongest condemnation of the attack on the KFOR mission”.

According to Kosovo’s Koha, but also some Serbian media, once the Serbs did not want to let two more vehicles of the Kosovo Police pass, KFOR requested them to disperse, after which KFOR began breaking up the protests. According to the Italian newspaper [Corriere della Sera](https://www.corriere.it/esteri/23_maggio_29/kosovo-feriti-militari-italiani-996aba90-fe40-11ed-a887-b62165246337.shtml), 11 Italians were among the 41 KFOR soldiers that suffered injuries. KFOR claims 25 injured soldiers [on Twitter](https://twitter.com/NATO_KFOR/status/1663246339629514770?s=20).

Journalists of Serbian and Albanian descent are among those hurt ([read more](https://n1info.rs/english/news/reporter-injured-tv-crew-s-car-burned-in-north-kosovo/)). The demonstrators were [accused](https://twitter.com/nickabbottfcdo/status/1663215886444945409?s=20) for it by the British ambassador in Kosovo.

Serbian President Vucic addressed the public by [stating](https://n1info.rs/english/news/vucic-blames-kosovo-pm-kurti-for-unrest/):

    >Vucic denied reports of shots fired by KFOR troops saying that a Kosovo Police officer opened fire from an automatic rifle at the Serbs, hitting at least one person before the Serbs responded with stones.
    >
    >Kurti wanted a big conflict between the Serbs and NATO so that he could wash his hands of the whole thing.

The German public broadcaster Deutsche Welle [explains](https://www.dw.com/en/kosovo-nato-led-troops-injured-as-serbs-protest-new-mayors/a-65764001) more about how we got into this situation.
