Dear Maltese,

My girlfriend and I (both Danish, in our 30’ies), are browsing for holiday destinations currently, and have fallen head over heels for your beautiful country. Valletta looks like the perfect respite from the November gloom of Denmark. 🙂

I’m wondering what the current covid restrictions are like, particularly the mask mandate. I’m a little confused about that – as I understand from [visitmalta.com](https://visitmalta.com), fully vaccinated people are currently allowed without masks outside in groups of max 2? Can you confirm this is correctly understood?

My girlfriend and I are fully vaccinated and have no problems wearing masks inside, e.g. when standing in line or when not sitting down at restaurants and so on, but prefer waiting until outside mask mandates are lifted, should that still be the law. 🙂

Thanks a lot in advance!

  1. Just back after visiting from Scotland.

I think those are the rules technically but in practice there was no mask mandate outside. Definitely indoors when not seated, though!

I didn’t have to worry at all about wearing a mask outside and didn’t see a huge number doing it in Valetta – although of course your mileage may vary.

  2. As long as you are vaccinated you may roam around outside without mask but you must put one on when entering inside but may remove it while seated at restaurant tables.

  3. In public with open air its not mandatory to wear masks, though anywhere public indoors, like busses, stores and etc its mandatory to wear a mask unless you are eating or drinking!
