Nigel Farage tells Beth Rigby the Tories have ‘betrayed’ Brexit and should accept worker shortages to cut immigration

  1. “I would like to think, hand on heart, I was never dishonest.”

Farage says he may have “got things wrong” during his time in politics, but denies making dishonest claims during the Brexit campaign.

  2. I guess Farage doesn’t like the idea of Ukrainian refuges fleeing war to this country for safety.

Why this isn’t more of a talking point regarding these immigration statistics is beyond me. It’s like the conservatives are scared to broach the subject because of how badly managed it’s been.

  3. We have worker shortages, we are pretending that it’s something to boast about having record levels of employment…whilst we have food rotting in fields due to lack of workers!

If the plan is to have more as some kind of dirty protest, then I think it may fail…

  4. Immigration needs controlling. We don’t need foreigners to pick fruit. We need to pay British people to do it. And if they won’t, their benefits should be stopped. We don’t need immigrants to work as nurses or doctors, we lose thousands of British professionals every year. We need less of many things. Less immigration means less crime, less jobless people, less housing wait times, less nhs wait times, less strain on schools, less traffic on the roads. Reducing immigration reduces every major issue this country has. Fact.

  5. If that’s what you want, Nigel, how about forming a party and winning an election for that?

Now we’ve “taken back control” (heavy sarcasm), it’s Westminster that calls all the shots. No more EU to blame.

The reality is that you and your policies are about as popular as the plague.

  6. The Fuhrog, of course, refuses to admit that Brexit was inherently bad after he and his ilk kept saying how great it would be. And of course, moaning about immigration.

Odd how you’re only allowed to criticise Brexit in the media if you’re far-right.

  7. Why the fuck does anyone listen to this fucking moron. The frog faced cunt has been shown to be a turbo tard time and again. How does he get airtime? FFS what a donkey.

  8. It is a mark of a cultic mindset that when the cults dogma is shown to be in error, it is not poof that the dogma is wrong but rather the fault of the cults members for not believing in the dogma hard enough.

  9. Absolute tosser but yeah I think Britain needs to accept a shrinking economy at some point.. infinite growth and immigration isn’t working or sustainable.

  10. I’ve noticed he never actually details what he means.

For them to have “betrayed” brexit, you first need to say what the original promises were, who made them, demonstrate who and how voted for them, and then compare with what’s been delivered.

As far as I’m concerned, brexit was always very vaguely defined beyond ‘leave the EU’, which indeed was the only thing on the ballot. I thought leaving the EU was a shit idea for a multitude of reasons, many of which I was pretty vocal about.

Most, if not all, of the original promises being made were contingent on unlikely events happening, or were specifically worded as ‘can’, with no clear indication of intent to actually *do*. They were also put forward by one campaign and not the other, and largely ignored by the government who were in charge of defining brexit (“brexit means brexit”). Essentially you were asked to write a blank cheque for a nebulous idea with no plan, and now people are whining that there was no plan.

Anyway, ‘leave the EU’ was the definition, and well… that has happened.

Perhaps Nigel Farage had a more substantial plan and definition that he spent several years neglecting to tell us about. However, none of us voted for him anyway, so really all he’s doing is heckling from the sidelines where he belongs.

  11. I see he’s still working to ruin the country he pretends to care about, and not only getting away with it, but being paid for interviews.

  12. I fucking hate this man with every fibre of my being. He is an absolutely vile piece of shit. Allegedly quite handsy with young women too, from what I’ve been told by a young woman that he apparently felt up at an event. Wish he would just fuck off and die already, racist old cunt.

  13. Clearly keeping wages low by undercutting work forces with cheap foreign labour is the best thing for struggling people, clearly evil to think otherwise. Keeping the rich rich is what we’re trying to do again, right?

  14. Hahaha aren’t you the same people complaining about stagnant wages? The absolute doublethink. Downvote me I don’t care but you can’t argue that importing people willing to work for less doesn’t suppress wages.

God forbid the rich have to start paying people more and compete for the best workers by offering better wages and benefits! Only part of the rich you guys eat is their boots.

  15. The one plus to this is that worker shortages drive wages up, since employers actually have to compete on pay to get people to work for them.
