Joan of Arc (*Jeanne d’Arc*; c. 1412 – 30 May 1431) is a patron saint of France, honored as a defender of the French nation for her role in the siege of Orléans and her insistence on the coronation of Charles VII of France during the Hundred Years’ War.
In 1456, an inquisitorial court reinvestigated Joan’s trial and overturned the verdict, declaring that it was tainted by deceit and procedural errors.
Joan has been revered as a martyr, and viewed as an obedient daughter of the Roman Catholic Church, an early feminist, and a symbol of freedom and independence.
After the French Revolution, she became a national symbol of France. In 1920, Joan of Arc was canonized by the Roman Catholic Church and, two years later, was declared one of the patron saints of France.
Sentenced in the name of the holy Roman Catholic Church
the most interesting thing is that a bunch of priests refused to judge her for witchcraft, the case would quickly fall apart, because there is no evidence the only thing for which she can be judged is heresy, and then only such things as wearing men’s clothes, and for the way she said that she was personally obeying God, and not the pope Rimsky at that time, the church said that there is a hierarchy, all people are subordinate to the pope, and he is already subordinate to God, which means that the pope cannot be ignored.

As short as it was, her life was so fascinating (well, the last parts of it). Her trial alone is film-worthy.
One of the most based 19 year olds in history
What is this art called?
Who is the author?
A blessed Lady, I hope she still pray for us all from Heavens and she’s happy to see that English and French came to reconciliate in time.
Rouen is incredibly beautiful btw
I don’t care what they tell you at school, Jean of Arc was black.
Sorry, I had to.
The blood on La Hire’s sword is almost dry.
Marianne, the current representation of France is more or less just a secular version of Jeanne. I would have rather keep Jeanne as an official symbol of the country.
Her house is still [there. ](https://fr.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maison_natale_de_Jeanne_d%27Arc). Curiously there is no English version of this page.
I just love her story. Here’s this holy warrior who helped drive out the English, who gets burned at the stake, and one of her most prominent retainers (Gilles De Rais) turns out to be a demon summoning mass child murderer. You can’t make this up.
