Personally I like that something is done to talk about food waste but I wonder how they expect this to work for people who live in apartments. I can put my GFT bag outside, but even than they only come to pick it up once a month. Being forced to put raw meat there doesn’t really appeal to me, even if I’m freezing it before hand.
If they’re planning to make the GFT pickup biweekly at the least every two weeks it could be more acceptable I suppose.
En hoe gaan ze dat checken?
My city doesn’t collect gft at all. Nice initiative but maybe they should first force all cities to collect it….
TIL GFT isn’t collected everywhere….???
And another reason to dump trash in the neighbours bin, nice.
Our GFT bags are biodegradable which works fine in summer when they’re picked up weekly. For most of the year it’s once every two weeks though and they start degrading too soon and ripping.
I give all leftovers except chickenmeat to my chickens, best waste disposal around
They hopefully won´t implement this without thinking about practical consequences. Not everyone has a big house with garden and garage. People in appartments (I even don´t have a balcony) have a real problem here. I used the green bags in the past, but they quickly disintegrate, attract insects and leave sticky puddles of liquid.
I never see green bags in my street. Everryone throws organic waste in the white bags. I understand that seperate collection is better, but I cannot keep this food waste seperate with only one collection per week. Even if I somehow keep it for a week, the thing will be filthy when I put it out for collection and birds will quickly pick it apart.
I don´t have high hopes. Politicians often just assume that only the people in single family homes exist and they just forget about the rest.
Er zijn steden waar ze gft ophalen?
We live in an appartment with underground containers and no additional thrash pick-up.
I’m curious to see what they expect us to do with it.
Wait isn’t this already the case with the green trashcan, or am I thinking of something else?
Edit: TIL gft is not a thing everywhere
They need to decide on rules and stick to those rules if they want to enforce it. I’m still throwing pads in GFT which apparently is no longer allowed but in Netherlands it’s allowed. Didn’t know ’bout meat neither but since that comes with maggots I’m not going to throw it in GFT.
I didn’t even know you had to put food waste in restafval. I’ve been putting it in GFT all my life
