If this is true this is actually an extremely valuable acquisition by France,. EMALS was a pain in the ass for the US to develop it was a huge money and time pit in order to get it to working condition . Realistically I couldn’t see France investing so much in developing one on their own based on the struggles and money the US had commit to it. I imagine this is some sort of compensation for the whole AUS/UK submarine debacle.
