The government is currently preparing a law to make Covid-vaccination mandatory

  1. It will be discussed mid-January in Parliament. Since nearly all political parties (except ADR and Déi Lénk) are in favour of a general mandatory vaccination, it is very likely to come.

D’Justizministesch Sam Tanson wier amgaangen, un engem Text fir eng Impfflicht ze schaffen, sot de Premierminister Xavier Bettel an der Chamber. Dëse sollt prett sinn, fir no enger Consultatiounsdebatt an der Chamber, wann néideg, deposéiert ze ginn. D’Regierung hätt nach keng Decisioun getraff, ma et géing ee sech op d’Méiglechkeet preparéieren.

  2. In my opinion this is the right way to do it, not sneak it through the backdoor by making anti vaxxer lives miserable.

Put it out there, vote on it in parliament, go through a constitutional review, cut it out with the half measures.

Time to end the whole “silent majority” anti vaxxer BS or drop many of these restrictions.

My money’s on anti vaxxers realizing that yes, they are the minority and they’re not being abused by the government, they’re being abused by the majority.

Though luck, it’s part of growing up, life is as it is, not as you wish it to be.

  3. Going to be interesting to see if all these antivaxxers care enough about their beliefs to leave the cushy life of Luxembourg and move somewhere poorer where they are still struggling to get vaccines to even those who want to. Tbh I do think making this mandatory has some political and philosophical issues attached but on the other hand, I am curious as I always found it super annoying how all these quacks loved to make extreme statements but never backed any of them with their behaviour. Like all these people who were super against 5g, said it would kill their kids, etc, not a single one of them actually left when 5g was implemented in their region. I never understood it, if I genuinely believed something was going to kill my kids, I would have ran from it no matter what. And if they didn’t genuinely believe it, why all the yapping on social media!? So curious to see how much actual conviction stands behind all the antivaxx sentiment. My guess is very little so it’s probably better to make it mandatory and move on. And if people actually do start uprooting their lives over their fear of this vaccine, at least it will maybe elevate the debate to a more meaningful level.

  4. Great news, because if something goes wrong or there are some side effects in the future we can sue the hell out of the government 🙂

  5. Until then the police should put “Booster Shooter 2000 – Sponsered by Pfizer” on their water canons

  6. 70% of the country is vaccinated, at this point, is almost a bad joke that this has become such an issue. Statistically speaking, the country reached herd immunity, and there is no risk nor threat whatsoever for those vaccinated.

Also, it’s been two years since the pandemic started. They understood the risk and kept themselves alive, they don’t need any fascist legislation to convince them otherwise.

  7. This is completely messed up. All for people getting vaccines but my god, a vaccine mandate is the complete wrong way to go.

Especially now that Omicron has been shown to be way, way less severe than delta.

Or best bet now is if everyone catches Omicron over the next few weeks, which will happen regardless of vaccination status.

  8. Happy to see that they’re finally pulling their head out of the sand and having big balls. It’s 100% needed and ridiculous that it has taken so long. Hopefully the rest of the world will follow suit.

    Good Christmas gift.
