Wayne Couzens: Ex-Met PC in flashing case guilty of gross misconduct

  1. And after all that, the only police officer (other than the murderer) who will face any consequences for the Met’s failings will be a junior frontline PC who got handed an investigation too late to stop him anyway.

Nothing said about senior officers who serially and in the face of clear warnings mismanaged and misreformed the met, destroying its ability to investigate crime, pick up on wrongdoing or even vet its recruits. Nothing about the supervisors who failed to pick up on bad behaviour.

Scapegoating and whitewashing of the highest order. Let this be a warning to anyone who thinks the Met leadership are actually interested in changing the Met.

  2. Ah, they’ve found their scapegoat. Anyone who actually took the time to read the Casey report would have found that the majority of the criticism was at the Mets appalling leadership and its culture. Once again they’ve failed to take ownership of their poor management and pinned it all on an easy target. The sad fact is the majority of investigations into crimes reported are “lamentably poor” down to a lack of resources.

That being said, the dishonesty and outright lying on her part is inexcusable. I have little sympathy for that.
