I have eaten a lot of bacon and eggs in my life, but the method of cooking a sunny egg on top of rendered bacon with a bit of paprika was one of the great revelations of marrying into a Swiss family.
None of us are sure if it is a common Swiss thing or just a family tradition though.
I think it is more a family tradition but a tasty looking one!
We eat it almost every sunday for breakfast
Havent eaten it in a while. Damn.
You will find it in Germany too. I addition you should google and try “Strammer Max” and “Bauernfrühstück”. I assume you will like it too.
It deffo is a swiss thing, can also be done with ham tho
This on top of Rösti is pure heaven.
If I remember correctly, Panoramarestaurant Rothorngipfel in Lenzerheide called it a Heidi Rösti.
I think this is made all over the world wherever bacon and eggs are available?
Wait till you try “Fleischchäs mit Spiegelei” it will blow you’re mind.
Is that pain perdu or Am I too romand to understand ?
I wouldn’t say it’s a swiss thing. I have seen it in plenty of countries.
