  1. I wonder how many of these patients were intoxicated?

We really need to bring back harsher penalties for public intoxication, go to any a &e on a Friday or Saturday night and you can see the drain these morons that can’t handle their drink have on the system

  2. I’m sure everyone that was up in arms a few weeks ago saying doctors and nurses are all criminals and sex offenders will amend their views now more detail of the data has come out.

  3. When I used to work in A&E you would see staff being abused all the time in front of “abuse will not be tolerated” signs.
There used to be police stationed in A&E 24 hours a day, but that was scrapped due to budget cuts.

  4. > The 20,928 cases accounted for just under 60% of the total alleged incidents trusts disclosed. Allegations included claims of rape, sexual assault, harassment, stalking and sexualised remarks.

    > Experts cautioned that the figures were likely to be a serious underestimate as staff are often deterred from making complaints when patients abuse them.

That seems very worrying to me.

Not only are these stats incomplete, but staff are being deterred from even making complaints, so we’re not seeing the full picture.

  5. Report. You can get the actual numbers are higher and staff are not reporting some cases due to tiredness of because they know nothing will come from reporting the issue.

  6. It has happened to me working in mental health services.

Got groped by a patient in his 70s who was in the midst of a manic episode. He suggested I enjoyed it and should have been greatful when I reported it.

Literally older than my father and I refused to be alone with him after
