‘the annual treat that is the Mrs Brown’s Boys Christmas special’
I read more but I didn’t need to after this
Enjoy Christmas on your own then. I’ll be enjoying mine with family.
Omicron is a good scape goat for people who don’t want to see their family but don’t have the balls to be honest with them.
Nah, we need to be done with this already. People that are vaxxed and boosted are in no real danger and those that are not can get fucked.
Just take a damn test before going to see your relatives. Problem solved.
Takes all the wind out of the doomer’s sails.
Thats a no from me.
You do you everyone but with the help of sensible home testing my entire friend circle, my family and I will never be going back to “no indoor mixing” in each others houses ever again. Let alone just over Christmas.
And we are all people who complied 100% with all restrictions.
Hope he enjoys his Christmas treat of Mrs Brown’s Boys… thats a no from me too.
If anything the dude is more like 50 year old scrooge in his gout years.
I’ll just call you a cunt like I would the rest of the year
This might be my last Christmas. Am I fuck scrapping it to sit on my own all day.
Covid is never going away, shall we just cancel Christmas for the rest of the century just to be on the safe side?
Some anti social cunts are absolutely thriving off this pandemic and it shows
Does anyone else think there seems to be a portion of the population who seem to enjoy Covid restrictions and would advocate for them indefinitely if they could?
I say this as someone who’s vaxxed and has followed the rules.
Mate I’m not even a big fan of Christmas but by fuck you can shove that opinion up your arse.
My daughter tested positive for COVID last night so that’s our plans changed whether we like it or not.
If other people don’t have to do such simple things as wearing masks, I’m not cancelling Christmas. It’s that simple really. We’ve turned this into an arsehole contest. So the biggest arseholes win.
Proven to be a less serious strain with plateauing numbers, science tells us no more restrictions needed. England will be open and celebrating fully this new year. Unlucky Scotland, Ireland and Wales, should have listened to the science.
No thank you!
We’re all jabbed up to the nines and taking tests before we meet up in my friend and family groups.
Hate to say it but it’s been two years and people have given up hope and want to move on. Testing before you go is the best we can do.
This article is quite literally misinformation given he outright writes that this variant
“will break the NHS,”
which is only true in some models but is not the case in others.
Fuck that, I’ll be in a house full if people who have both vaccines and booster who have all tested negative.
Hits the unvaccinated the worst. Fuck those guys. I’m going to party.
I had a family super spreader event a few weeks ago. It’s taken out ( mildly) 10 in my immediate family and another 20 or so in wider circle. I do believe January is going to be huge in terms of cases and I hope people don’t beat themselves up too much if they lose anyone
Thing is we all the government are going to dish you out advice while absolutely not adhering to it themselves.
Not going to call you anything, but there will be a collective fuck off from a large proportion of the country.
That would be the second Christmas in a year
I’m pretty sure a big chunk of the population would find that completely unacceptable
As a pigeon, I reject the authors philosophy
Just as much of a steaming pile of shite as the Daily Mail. Total melt.
I scrapped it last year, in fact I scrapped most things in 2020 and 2021, which is a pain because all everyone had to do was stay in fucking doors for two weeks in March 2020 and this shit would be over.
Yeah fuck you, cops won’t even investigate Boris parties whilst I had relatives that could only have 6 at funerals.
My liberties won’t be taken away by a man who can’t even comb his hair
Would there be articles like this if there was a particularly bad flu season 2 years ago? Of course not, with the high level of immunity in the population that is basically the situation we are in so everyone just needs to get over it now and get on with our lives.
I’m certainly seeing family this year having spent last Xmas alone, but I’m not having any “big” Xmas parties. Having just lost one member of the family I don’t need to lose another to unnecessarily large gatherings.
Like it or not vaccinated doesn’t mean immune and even though all my family and I are fully vaccinated many of them are still high risk, I’m still not comfortable taking risks with their lives like that.
I’m triple vaccinated and I test as soon as I detect a sneeze coming, as does my entire family circle and my friends
I’m going to see them now. It’s on you guys to get vaccinated. I have nothing else I can give you
Fuck no. Weve destroyed our economy for 2 years so old farts can survive 6 more months. We’re getting on with our lives.
Something like 1 in 45 Britts have COVID at this moment in time. If we stopped Christmas today that figure will still get worse in the next 2 days.
Family are all triple jabbed and we have some LFT’s that arrived today. My grandparents are a bit anxious so we won’t be going to see them other than a video call, but those that are comfortable are absolutely getting together.
The population is fucking fed up. 2 years this has been going on; it’s time to get back to normality as much as we can(while yes still being responsible, ie jabs and negative tests)
I’ll be enjoying time with family.
I think it’s reasonable advice not to go to massive parties and then meet up with potentially vulnerable relatives.
But missing out on a family Christmas for the second year running? Nah. That’s the kind of occasion that we put up with all the isolation rules and whatever to be able to have.
There’ll probably be a bit of a spike in January after NYE parties, though it may well be hidden in the downward curve of Omicron which (if we follow SA) is likely to be under way by then.
Does the huge rise in cases and new restrictions mean that the vaccine is working?
I’ve had my vaccines, as far as I can tell omicron is mild for most people so I think it’s worth the risk. If it kills a few antivaxxers then that’s their own fault.
It’s a collective action problem. I think most non-clinically vulnerable people who are jabbed and tested are willing to take the personal risk of cracking on with Christmas. The problem is, the author is right — this Christmas probably will lead to a significant spike in cases, and this could put serious strain on the NHS. I’m happy to take the _personal_ risk of seeing my family, but is it worth the _collective_ risk to the NHS? That’s a tough question.
But since Christmas is going ahead and the vast majority of people will be having their family gatherings, I’d be a mug not to participate and I look forward to driving home for Christmas tonight.
>…so drunk they’ve blissfully forgotten all about hands, face and space and a pre-visit lateral flow test?
Nonsensical bullshit.
What has getting drunk AFTER a pre-visit lateral flow test got to do with anything?
Absolutely stupid to scrap yet another Christmas when we have vaccinations, boosters and tests.
As long as I test negative why do I need to spend yet another Christmas doing fuck all?
In case it’s wrong?!
I have Covid so I don’t get a choice. But I’d rather be having Christmas.
Says the middle class independent writer in his nice big house with a garden, where he can already work from home from his laptop. Who will only realistically have to skip a few wine and cheese dinner parties in the first place. What a twat. Out of touch from the real world.
