Kjæreste = romatic partner, not boyfriend.
I’m learning norwegian currently and I started on duolingo, but I started going on norwegian courses 4 months ago and it has really boosted my learning experiance to another level. The guy who is making the little language school I’m learning in is super helpful and friendly, he makes his own courses on memrise app, where he also records his own voicelines! Duolingo doesn’t really help with grammar and talking on the longrun, so I’m really glad I am going to that course. One time I asked how to say girlfriend and kjæreste was the answer, but the teacher immediately told me it’s a term for both girlfriend and boyfriend as a significant other and I really love that it works that way.
I’ve used Duolingo with Norwegian for awhile, and I’ll say that they have some of the funniest or most culturally accurate translations on that app
