Banning domestic flights, Le Pen getting self-owned as a mouthpiece for Putin, and now this! France is on a roll!
I *hate* influencers. Absolutely *loathe* them. They’re the epitome of our fucked-up social-media based society.

Influencers are societal cancer, definitely, but let’s talk about who and what empowers them, namely big corpos coupled with a deep-seated consumption instinct. When you have weeds in your garten, you gotta pull the roots, not just mow over them.
This makes complete sense to me. There’s no reason an influencer should be able to spread misinformation to a young, impressionable audience without consequences. If you’re going to advertise something to 100k teenagers you better research it first.
>While many successful influencers operate from abroad, such as in Dubai, the text aims to require those operating from outside the European Union, Switzerland, or the European Economic Area to take out civil liability insurance within the EU. The stated goal is to create a fund to compensate potential victims. They will also have to designate a legal representative in the EU.
So… everyone with a twitch channel who is based outside EU who has an audience and who promotes stuff will need a civil liability insurance inside the EU and will need to designate a legal representative in the EU?
I don’t see this working the way the French intend this to work. I can see most people outside the EU just ignore this.
Does this only apply to French influencers or do all influencers now have to get an EU civil liability insurance?
