COVID-19: Omicron less likely to cause severe symptoms but effectiveness of booster jabs waning for some, says UKHSA

  1. If you’re half as likely to need to go to hospital, but twice as many people catch it, that’s a break even for the NHS. I’m not sure how the calculus works on an individual level.

  2. Every hour it goes from “no need for lockdown” to “lockdown imminent” makes it difficult to run a business.

  3. So much for trying to tell us that boosters give longer term protection that the first two jabs. Seems they’re just as ineffective in the medium term and we’re all going to have to get a jab every 3 months if we want to get anywhere near herd immunity levels.

  4. Breaking News, antibodies contract overtime as they’re expected to. Give us data on T cells and long term protection against severe illness instead, which is how you determine actual vaccine effectiveness.
