852 social, affordable rental & affordable purchase homes in Dundrum
Great news that planning has been granted for 852 social, affordable rental & affordable purchase homes at Dundrum Central, the ex-Central Mental Hospital.
Good to see a few of the pedestrian safety improvements that I sought at the oral hearing.

Judicial review goes bbrrrrrrrrrrrtttt
Well that’s the housing crisis solved, what’s up next lads?
Genuine question: I’m in no way PC but are you allowed to say ‘mental hospital’ still?!
So, What’s your definition of “Affordable”? The Government’s? Or reality?
The art reminds me of Pripyat
Affordable is going to mean prices start at 1.2m, right?
Lol I love the “LDA should build quickly”. What has the LDA delivered in 5 years?
They shouldn’t be selling off any of these, they should be 100% cost rental.
If people want to play the property market, go ahead, but not with taxpayers’ money.
But, will they be haunted?
Great to see a bit of ambition and density, although we are overloading what is a light rail line – the entire Green line needs to be upgraded to Metro given the significant developments along it. Covid and WFH has helped ease the pressure, but you can see it is getting busier again.
If we’re not going to build places for people to live in the city centre, somewhere like Dundrum seems like a good place to focus on. Good transport links, close to the M50, shopping nearby, recreation areas nearby and the Dublin mountains are close.
Ballymun all over again.
These were also supposed to be “affordable”, but they’re not. I believe it was a condition of being gifted the land and planning permission. Believe it when I see it
