  1. I don’t see the article as paywalled so will not copy it here without someone asking for it, as I prefer people going on the FT website.

Sustaining good press is important for our democracies.

  2. Why is Macron like this? Seriously, what is it? He reminds me of Germans trying to improve relations with Putin.

I hope he knows something we don’t

  3. Just… what? Why, Macron? Yesterday there was supposed to be “strategic humility”, now this.

I was actually one of the people that thought he was being misrepresented. But this is solid action against something that’s obviously necessary and good

  4. Got downvoted to shit for making fun of him cozying up to China. Everyone saying no no he’s not like that you’re reading politico bs. He’s Mr. Protector of Eastern Europe. The guy is a fuckin clown

  5. Not shocked. Macron seems to think that he can outsmart everyone. For some reason he wants to achieve world peace by dialectically negating a finite determination of infinity.

  6. Japan is not connected to the Atlantic Ocean so they do not belong into NATO. Sorry boyos, it’s superior French brain at works.

  7. NATO goal is not to protect Japan sorry, except US, UK and France who can go there and seems serious to China and i don’t think it’s in the interest of like most of the members anyway.

Making a dedicated alliance for this part of the world would be good but NATO would be useless and it’s focus need to be Ukraine not Japan.

It’s pure logic nothing else, it would be in our own interest to have an alliance for this part of the world since we have many territories there but not in this shape.

How are leaders of your countries for example Poland, Romania, Sweden, Lithuania going to explain that one of your ship has been shot , that there are dailies provocation despite having limited capacity in a place at the end of the world for you which most of the people mostly don’t care.

  8. This is Macron saying : let’s see what your new alliance AUKUS is capable of…
Why not extending this little club to Japan ? This is Pacific region after all.

You can’t betray ally and partner and expect him to blindly follow you in every step you make

  9. It makes sense. Japan is not part of NATO. All the United States has to do is create another organization that fits in with its Pacific policy… I don’t know, call it the “Pacific Treaty Organization (PTO)”.
