There is this mystery knob that I can rotate/turn around but I cannot completely take it off in the kitchen sink. Does anyone know what is this?
I am trying to deep clean my kitchen sink and I noticed there is always some dirt coming out from the sides of the knob.

It will open/close the plug on the sink
You turn it and it locks or unlocks the plug in the sink.
I have a different version of that
That is a placement for a knob that would close the drain so you could have water in the sink, now it doesnt seem to have it so its just a decoration and you gotta have a sparate plug you put on top of the drain instead, I think.

There was a light switch in my old apartment that didn’t seem to do anything. Every now and then I would flick it a few times for no reason. A year or so after I moved in, I got a letter from Germany that just read, “Stop it”
So, maybe don’t play with it too much.
Does your apartment by chance have a dishwasher? I’m asking because I have a similar knob, that turns on/off the water for the dishwasher.
