I’m from Puerto Rico and this is a very common snack for parties. I was surprised to see it was made in Denmark.

  1. I have never once in my life seen or heard of that. Tulip *is* a Danish brand, but they could just be making that particular product for other markets than the Danish one.

  2. Looks like it’s a Puerto Rican thing, that just happen to be produced by a Danish company in this case. I highly doubt it’s sold anywhere i Denmark.

  3. Tulip is a part of Danish Crown which is a large food industry company. Roughly 5-10% of the products from Danish Crown are for our home market, the rest is export goods. So a lot of their products never see the Danish stores – my guess, this one is one of those products.

Pork products are Denmarks most exported goods.

  4. Never seen it before but judging from the picture and the ingredients list we might have something similar being marketed as “fransk paté” meaning French Pate. Basically a pork patè with a spice mix giving it a French vibe

  5. It’s not at all, but for a company to make region specific wares isn’t unheard of. Both Coca-Cola and PepsiCo produce and sell Kvass in eastern Europe, but you’ll likely never see those products sold in Western Europe or Scandinavia. Unless they’re imported from Eastern Europe.

  6. No. Never seen it before, which means that it may be sold outside Denmark only (hence the english text on the box). Danes usually don’t eat snack off a box like that. We may do it if we’re traveling for the ease of it. Other wise most of us “construct our own food from the ground up” 🙂

  7. From DK but live in Spain for a decade.
I have tried this product and It kind of reminds me of very bad leverpostej.

A bunch of products from Tulip are being sold down here and in other Spanish speaking countries.
Their cocktail sausage on can is probably the worst tasting sausage I have tried in my life😂😂
A few times per year I buy their red sausage and frankfurter when I get homesick though:)

  8. I’ve never heard of rape seed oil before.

Edit: apparently that’s what it’s called. I thought it was misspelled grape.

  9. It’s one of those export products we make because our industry is heavily biased toward pork and pork accessories but don’t sell in Denmark because it probably wouldn’t do well in our domestic market.

I figure this is mostly exported to Central America and some parts of the US.

First time I visited the Middle East I was surprised to see huge billboards (something we don’t have in Denmark either) advertising dairy products from Arla and Lurpak.
Since Lurpak only really makes butter, I recognised their products just fine, but Arla makes a lot of other stuff, including some fresh cheese looking stuff in a carton that was previously only sold in the Middle East but has since been released in Denmark since immigration has spread the market for the product to reach our stores.

  10. I Latin Amerika er Tulip ofte betragtet som luksus, hvilket er lidt bisart naar man taenker på deres lokale madtradition. Men det er nok pga. dåserne, der giver lang holdbarhed under usikre opbevarings forhold.

  11. Never seen it before, looks neat.

Guess i’ll have to try it, should i ever happen to get myself to Puerto Rico
